This is one of the Water Gremlin favorite plus methods. Thread an "O" ring on your line and tie your lure to 10 to 12 pound test monofiliment. Place a removable split shot about three feet in front of the lure, but below the ring. Tie the ring to six or eight inches of 6 to 8 pound test line and add a loop knot for a Snap-Loc weight. This way the weight, not the line, will normally hang up.

This rig also works fantastically well when fished around large rocks or other hazards in the river. Cast the rig so it lands in front of the target and settles to the bottom. Then slowly feed line so the lure works around the front of the cover.
