Less than one third of fish caught from beneath the ice are eaten. More than 60% are caught and released. Please pass the pork chops.

Circle Time Under the Pines: I is for Ice. Children 2-5 years old, come explore and have fun at Itasca as we learn about ice and ice fishing through stories, songs, crafts, and outdoor discovery. Bring your winter outdoor clothes (including snowpants and boots) if weather permits, part of the program will be exploring the outdoors. NOTES: Adults must accompany children. Consider bringing a picnic lunch and enjoying your noon meal around the fireplace in the visitor center lobby after the program.
Entrance to the park is 21 miles north of Park Rapids on U.S. Highway 71. From Bemidji the park is 30 miles south on U.S. Hwy 71.
