Scientists can tell how old a fish is by reading the growth rings on the fish scales, a lot like they do with tree rings.

I caught this fish on Fathers day, fishing with my two sons Matt and Jake on Lake Saganaga at the end of the Gunflint Trail. I was using a Lindy rig with a 3 foot leader with a orange bead and a #8 hook.

The fish was 30 inches and approx 10 pounds.

It was released right after the photo. The Gremlin Likes!
