The Gremlin says, “WOW! Look at that beautiful Walleye Erik caught off of Midget Flat on Mille Lacs Lake.” Right you are Gremlin, that is a beauty. I’d say 27″ and 7.5 lbs. You can’t beat that. Congratulations Erik!
Pike feed actively throughout the year and are a popular target of ice fishermen. Muskies feed much more sporadically in winter.
Less than one third of fish caught from beneath the ice are eaten. More than 60% are caught and released. Please pass the pork chops.
Groundwater can well up from the depths of a lake and melt the ice. So don’t set out on the ice too early this ice fishing season.
